Praslin Island along with Mahe constitutes the core of Seychelles tourism. So if you are out on a Seychelles vacation, it would be difficult for you to leave Praslin Island. Praslin is conveniently placed north-east of Mahe, the main island of Seychelles. The visitors can reach Praslin from Mahe by means of boat or plane.

A long time ago this island was a hideout of pirates and Arab merchants. Even today, Praslin is sparsely populated with just over 6,000-7,000 people residing on it. This three miles wide and seven miles long island however have plenty of resorts and hotels on it that adhere to the international standards. The growing tourism industry has provided employment to a large number of residents. The rest earn a living by fishing. Baie Ste Anne and Grand Anse are the two main villages where most of the residents live. The Grand Anse village is where you will find most of the banks; in Baie Ste Anne you will find the travel information office of Praslin.
